Description
A youth end-time preparation summer camp adventure for 13-17 year olds.
Event Details
This summer camp is for remnant minded young people who are aged 13-17 years. It will help young people understand the three phases of readiness: 1) move to the country, 2) living during a time when you cannot buy or sell, and 3) the flight into the wilderness. The camp will have these areas of training:
1. Spiritual Development
2. Witnessing
3. Personal Health Development
4. Medical Missionary Training
5. Gardening
6. Survival Skills
7. Cooking and Food Preservation
8. Edible Food Hike
9. Foraging
This summer camp will utilize tents, and we encourage you to bring your own. If you don't have a tent, we can assist you with purchasing one. The meals will be plant-based. A full schedule and equipment list will be posted soon. The registration process is in two stages, starting with online payment, then a paper waiver form which will need to be notarized. If you have your own camping equipment, you do not need to purchase any from us. The four-person camping combo is illustrated below.
Parents can attend but they cannot camp in the youth camping area, and other activities will be provided for them to do.
No pets are allowed.
The camp is sponsored by the Avon Park SDA Church.
Transport: You’ll be transported in minivans and cars.
Meals: All meals will be vegetarian/vegan. Participants will be required to assist with the preparation or serving of meals or the clearing up. This will be done on a rotating basis.
Weather: The weather can be unpredictable but in general it will be hot. It could rain significantly as well. It is recommended that participants bring suitably warm clothing – a long sleeve shirt to be worn under the ‘mission trip’ t-shirt that is provided. Rainwear is recommended.
Conduct & Dress: Our adventures will sometimes require campers to be dressed in business casuals or casual or workwear or sportswear. This dress code is particularly important because you’ll be interacting with the general public. If you experience uncertainty about acceptable attire, err on the side of caution. Inappropriately dressed participants will be asked to change their attire. Pants can be worn by both genders. Make-up and jewelry should not be worn. All participants should conduct themselves according to Adventist standards allowing their words and behavior to reflect Christ and Adventist principles.
